Implementation of a civic history exhibit focused on positive social change
City of Delta
The Delta Cultural Centre was designed by exhibit designers at Double Dare Design, both as a civic history exhibit and as well as a platform for community-authored exhibits about contemporary local issues. Woven among the permanent exhibits are five pod-like “Learning Stations” that allow the curators to work with community groups to create new exhibits on topics of current interest and local relevance. Each station has a range of interchangeable modular exhibit components. Graphic panels are easily removed by releasing a nut and bolt, accessed from the inside of the exhibit. This allows panels to be removed, re-wrapped, and replaced with minimal cost. By mixing permanent displays with temporary community exhibitions, The Delta Discovery Centre will continue to be an activating space for the community for many years to come.
Holman was selected to design detail, fabricate and install all the millwork, Learning Pods, custom wall cases, digital interactive housings, and the immersive elements. Holman produced all the graphic elements, including wall murals, direct printed and vinyl wrapped elements.
